How do I cancel my subscription, keep my translations and delete my account?
Leaving Locize takes up to four steps, in this order. A subscription belongs to an organization, never to your user account, so the account itself costs nothing.
1. Check whether there is a subscription
- Open your organization's Billing tab: it shows the subscription and its current billing period. You need admin or accountant permissions on the organization (see billing information and invoices).
- No organization, or an organization without projects: there is no subscription and nothing is charged. Continue with step 4.
2. Keep your translations
Do this before you cancel: when the subscription ends, its projects are deleted (step 3).
- In the format you need: open the version in the CAT / Translation Editor, clear the language and namespace filter and click EXPORT (see export all). Formats with one file per language (JSON, YAML, PO, …) arrive as a ZIP with a file per language and namespace; multi-language formats such as CSV or XLSX arrive as one file holding everything.
- Every version at once (project admins): open the project's settings and choose delete project. The dialog starts with "Before you go, download your data": all translations downloads every version, language and namespace as flat JSON (
version/language/namespace.json). Opening the dialog deletes nothing; the project is only deleted when you confirm. Not available while the project still has tenants or branches. - From a script:
locize downloadof the CLI fetches the published translations; for the current, unpublished state add--unpublished trueand an API key (Growth plan and up). - Invoices: the organization's Billing tab downloads all receipts and invoices as a ZIP; they stay available after the cancellation.
- Tenants and branches hold their own translations: export each of them too.
3. Cancel the subscription
- Only want to stop paying? If a project fits the Free plan (a small project on the Standard CDN), switch it to Free on the organization's Projects tab instead of cancelling: the Free plan is never charged and the project stays. A cancellation deletes the Free-plan projects of the subscription too.
- Request the cancellation on the organization's Billing tab (admin or accountant), or write to support@locize.com. We end the subscription and confirm by email; from then on no further invoices are issued.
- When the subscription ends, all its projects are marked for deletion. Shortly after, the CDN stops serving their translations, and a little later the projects are deleted. To keep a project, subscribe it again before it is deleted.
- Remove the Locize integration from your app before the translations stop being served.
4. Delete your user account
- Open your profile and choose Delete your user account. This is permanent.
- It works once you no longer have access to any project: leave each project in its settings, or delete it if you are its admin. After a cancellation you can also wait until its projects are deleted.
- If you are the last admin of an organization that still has projects, make another member an admin, or hand the projects over first. An organization without projects is deleted when its last member deletes their account.
- Prefer that we delete it? Write to support@locize.com from the address you signed up with.
Note: An account without any project or organization is also deleted automatically once it has not been signed in to for approximately 60 days.
