Day zero - How all began

Back in 2011

It all started back in 2011 when we were searching for an internationalization library that met our needs: something that could run both on server-side Node.js and in our client-side single-page applications.

i18next was born and quickly grew into one of the most-used frameworks for translating web applications and Node.js services. The community response was amazing, and a fast-growing ecosystem established itself around i18next.

Internationalization is not enough

Our community gave us great feedback. From that response (and our own experiences) we learned that providing the tooling for internationalization is not enough on its own.

Helping developers internationalize their applications is great… but there’s more to it:

  • How do you integrate any translation service / agency?
  • How do you keep track of new or removed content?
  • How do you handle proper versioning?
  • How do you deploy translation changes without deploying your complete application?

Locize to the rescue

With i18next as the foundation, it was a long journey toward localization as a service.

But the journey ends this year with Locize:

  • Easy to integrate
  • Order professional translations
  • Analytics & statistics
  • Benefit from our content delivery network
  • Versioning of your translations
  • Risk-free: take your data with you
  • Transparent and fair pricing
