Predictable Growth: Introducing Fixed Pricing and a Free Plan
Since our inception, Locize has been known for its radical "pay-as-you-go" approach. While that model offers the ultimate flexibility, we heard one piece of feedback from growing teams: "We need more predictability in our monthly billing."
Today, we are introducing a major evolution to how you can use Locize. We are moving from a single "one-size-fits-all-usage" model to a choice between Fixed Plans and Usage-Based Pricing.
And for the first time ever, we are introducing a Free plan.
Why the Change?
Localization shouldn't be a budgeting guessing game. By offering the possibility of fixed plans, we’re providing:
- Budget Predictability: Know exactly what your base cost is every month.
- Simplified Features: No more wondering which "add-on" you need; features are now bundled into logical tiers.
- The Same Flexibility: We haven't abandoned our roots. If you exceed your plan limits, you don't get cut off — you simply scale into fair, graduated overages. And alternatively, you can still use the Usage-Based plan.
Meet the New Plans
We’ve structured these tiers to match the lifecycle of a modern software project:
- Starter: Designed for small teams. Includes 5,000 words and 500,000 downloads.
- Growth: Our most popular choice for growing businesses. Includes 20,000 words and 3,000,000 downloads.
- Professional: Includes unlimited users, 50,000 words, and 5,000,000 downloads to keep your pipeline moving.
- Enterprise: For large-scale operations requiring high-volume limits (100k words/10M downloads), advanced security like SSO, and Audit Logs.
Graduated Overages: No "Cliffs"
One thing that makes Locize unique is how we handle growth. On our Fixed plans, if your project suddenly goes viral and your downloads spike, we don't force you onto a more expensive tier immediately.
Instead, we use graduated overages. As your usage grows, the unit rate actually decreases, ensuring that scaling up remains cost-effective rather than a punishment for success.
Introducing: The Free Plan
Until now, the only way to start with Locize was our 14-day trial. While that gave you time to explore, it wasn't ideal for hobbyists or developers just starting a small project.
Our new Free Plan changes that. It's designed for small-scale projects that need professional-grade i18n without the immediate cost:

- 1 User & 2 Languages.
It's the perfect way to get your project translated and live without watching a trial countdown clock.
Fixed vs. Usage-Based: Which is for you?
We know that every team works differently. That's why we're giving you the choice:
Choose a Fixed Plan if:
- You prefer setting a budget ceiling up front.
- You need specific feature bundles included in a flat fee.
- You are a team looking for a predictable monthly invoice.
Choose Usage-Based if:
- Your usage varies significantly month to month (e.g., seasonal traffic).
- You want costs to automatically scale down during quiet development periods.
- You need unlimited languages or users from day one without jumping tiers.
Radical Transparency (Still No Sales Reps)
As we mentioned in our Back to Roots post, we believe technical tools should be easy to understand without a sales pitch.
Our new pricing page let's you chose if you prefer a Fixed Plan or a Usage-Based Plan.
We don't have sales reps because we believe our product — and our pricing — should speak for itself.
What happens to existing customers?
If you are currently on our legacy usage-based model, don't worry. You can continue your current plan, or switch to a new fixed plan at any time via your project settings to take advantage of the new bundled features.
