Day zero - How all began

Back in 2011

It all started back in 2011 when we were searching for an internationalization library that met our needs — something that could run both on server-side Node.js and in our client-side single-page applications.

i18next was born and quickly grew into one of the most-used frameworks for translating web applications and Node.js services. The community response was amazing, and a fast-growing ecosystem established itself around i18next.

Internationalization is not enough

Our community gave us great feedback. From that response — and our own experiences — we learned that providing the tooling for internationalization is not enough on its own.

Helping developers internationalize their applications is great… but there’s more to it:

  • How do you integrate any translation service / agency?
  • How do you keep track of new or removed content?
  • How do you handle proper versioning?
  • How do you deploy translation changes without deploying your complete application?

Locize to the rescue

With i18next as the foundation, it was a long journey toward localization as a service.

But the journey ends this year with Locize:

  • Easy to integrate
  • Order professional translations
  • Analytics & statistics
  • Benefit from our content delivery network
  • Versioning of your translations
  • Risk-free: take your data with you
  • Transparent and fair pricing
